Fox Glacier Eco Tour

  • From your accommodation we drive to the Fox Glacier car park (30 min from Franz Josef, 10 min from Fox).
  • The track to the terminal (the front of the glacier) is an easy to moderate 1.5 km walk.
  • Your experienced Nature Guide will bring alive this spectacular valley nestled beneath New Zealand's two highest mountains (Aoraki Mt Cook 3,764m and Mt Tasman 3,500m).
  • View the friendly native mountain parrots (Kea) which frequent the car park.

Lake Matheson

Okarito Sea Kayaking

  • Sea kayaking in the Okarito Lagoon has to be one of the most rewarding experiences in Franz Josef Glacier Country.
  • Our van will pick you up from your accommodation for the ½ hour drive to Okarito – one of the best-kept secrets on the West Coast.
  • Away from the mainstream tourist areas you will paddle in New Zealand’s most natural tidal lagoon with a myriad of native and migratory bird life. Explore Amazon-style waterways with magnificent panoramas of the Southern Alps.
  • This tour is unique, with a one-on-one guide to client ratio in a double kayak. Perfect if you are travelling by yourself and would like a hands-on, fully-guided premier experience. Age or fitness is no barrier, and there’s no need for you to be able to paddle. Your guide will do all the work if necessary.
    Prices:½ day tour $340 for one person.
  • Although this tour is designed primarily for individuals, we can also operate for 2 people – either one guide and two clients all in single kayaks, or the guide and one client in a double and the other client in a single.
